Since September 2007 nearly 100 animal lovers have taken part in WSPA’s Romanian Bear Adventure. The experience has been the experience of a lifetime for many of the trekkers.

Walking up to 50 miles in 4 days through the stunning Carpathian mountains of Romania, visiting the famous Bran Castle and spending the day at the WSPA funded bear sanctuary – this challenge is achievable for most people given some training and determination. If you embrace new experiences, enjoy new cultures and want to challenge yourself as well as help bears then our 2011 trek is for you.

This year’s trek is likely to be the last one, so sign up now if you can to avoid missing the opportunity of a lifetime. There are still places remaining so sign up now.

We ask for most of the fundraising target to be in 10 weeks before you travel, so there isn’t a lot of time left to fundraise. Many participants decide to pay out of their own pocket, some pay themselves back with the sponsorship they raise. This is an option if raising the money in such a short space of time isn’t realistic for you.

Your fundraising and physical efforts will be rewarded with the rare opportunity to visit the WSPA-funded bear sanctuary in Romania, where 51 bears are cared for and the young helped along their journey towards rehabilitation back into the wild. So far, our trekkers have raised over £250,000 to help care for the bears. If you can’t take part but wan to help then please help us make this even more by making a donation straight to WSPA or via the fundraising pages of individual trekkers, featured in Meet The Trekkers.
